Description

One of the most popular images of Lincoln; this albumen photograph of Lincoln and Tad was taken in Brady’s Washington studio on February 9, 1864.

As the two subjects looked at a photo album between takes, the photographer instructed then to to keep this iconic pose (O-93).  Not only a tender image, but an early example of candid photography!

A carte de visite beautifully embossed with patriotic emblems:  eagle, flags,  canon, and laurels.  A post-assassination cdv issued (pirated?) by Salisbury, Bro., & Co. of Providence, R.I., c1865.  Excellent.
