Description

A Military Commission signed as president by Grover Cleveland.

James Seaman Casey is promoted to Colonel of Infantry. Prior to this, Casey served in the Civil War with the 7th New York Militia. After the Civil War he served in the Black Hills War, later receiving the Medal of Honor for leading his company’s assault in the Battle of Wolf Mountain, in Montana.

Excellent, darkly impressed, with careful script; bright blue seal, usual folds. Not examined outside of frame.
