Jefferson Davis, Collection, four items

Description

A collection of four items related to Jefferson Davis. The grouping includes:

Signature on a card:  “Yrs. &c / Jeffers. Davis”

Electoral Ticket:  “Election Ticket / for President / Jeff. Davis / for Vice-President / A. H. Stephens. / electors state at Large / William M. Taylor / Hamilton P. Bee…”  Also names electors for various Districts and candidates “For Congress.”   No Place:  circa 1864.   3″ x  5″ on blue paper.  One the verso in an unknown hand is a receipt for taxes dated Feb. 12, 1865 (Lincoln’s birthday!).

Patriotic Envelope “A Secession Envelope” for “Jeff. Davis, Prest. and Alex H. Stephens, Vice Prest.”  In the form of the first secession flag with three red and white bars and bearing 6 stars in the blue field.  6″ x 3-3/8″.

Silk Mourning Ribbon:  “Obsequies in Honor of President Jefferson Davis Held at Augusta, Ga. December the 11^th, 1860, by the Confederate Survivors’ Association.” At the top is a cross with Davis’ image in the middle.  2-3/8″ x 8-3/4″.

All are in Very Good condition.
