Washington and Lincoln: The Father and Savior of Our Country is one of Currier & Ives, most popular prints.

The eternal flame of “Liberty” burns above an American eagle and shield.  As Harold Holzer points out in THE LINCOLN IMAGE (p.194), Washington is portrayed as the superior, being taller than Lincoln with his left arm raised in an anointing gesture. Lincoln holds a scroll, probably of Emancipation. 

Excellent with bold coloration; rubbing of the frame’s gilt; a few closed tears at the top margin, a small owner’s stamp impression, and lt. soiling at the bottom edge do not mar the dramatic essence of this presentation.
