Mississippi in Crisis By “That Devil Forrest”

Description

Edwin C. Bearss’ account of Forrest at Brice’s Crossroads is still unparalleled in its coverage of the great rebel raider’s most significant victory.

Equally as important as the account of Brice’s Crossroads, Bearss dedicates half the book to following campaigns in Mississippi during the summer of 1864. His accounts of the fighting at Pontotoc and the Battle of Tupelo placed Nathan B. Forrest’s brilliant victory in the context of other operations. These other actions yielded results that were not nearly so impressive.

Very good. Inscribed and signed by the author.
