Description

The Morningside Press originally compiled The Gettysburg Papers in 1978 in two volumes but reissued this valuable one volume edition in 1986.

The Gettysburg Papers compiles the writings of the members of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion (MOLLUS) relating to the Gettysburg campaign. Morningside’s founder Bob Younger wrote “There may be prejudice in these ‘papers’ but there are very few inaccuracies.” Original printings of the MOLLUS papers are valuable and hard to find. This reissue is of incomparable value to Gettysburg buffs.

Essays include: “The First Gun at Gettysburg” by John L. Beveridge.
“With the Sixth Wisconsin at Gettysburg” by Rufus R. Dawes.
“Sixteenth Maine Regiment at Gettysburg” by Francis Wiggin.
“The Cavalry at Gettysburg” by William L. Heermance.
“Strong Vincent and His Brigade at Gettysburg” by Oliver W. Norton.
“The First Minnesota at Gettysburg” by William Lochren.
“Pickett’s Charge as Seen From the Front Line” by Winfield Scott, 126 New York.

The detailed index by Margie Riddle Bearss makes this publication very useful.
