Description

This print, Columbia’s Noblest Sons, includes oval images of  George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Columbia crowns both the founder and preserver of the Union with a chaplet of laurel. 

Surrounding Washington are dated scenes of the Boston Tea Party, signing of the Declaration of Independence, and Cornwallis surrendering his sword to Washington.  Around Lincoln are dated scenes of Ft. Sumter and Lincoln entering Richmond; the scene of the Monitor is captioned “Progress.”  Cannons rest under each president. Columbia rests her foot on a prostrate British lion below Washington, while broken slave chains and an American eagle lay below Lincoln. 

Handsome presentation.

Excellent Condition; not examined outside of frame.
