With his Discourse on the Occasion of the Death of Abraham Lincoln Reverand Morris C. Sutphen joined hundreds of other clergy in dedicating his sermon on the Sunday following the assassination to a eulogy of Abraham Lincoln.
Sutphen chose to lecture on Job. xiv, 19. “Thou Destroyest the Hope of Man.” In his sermon he demonstrated that Abraham Lincoln had been more than the president and the victor of the war, but the hope of the nation’s future.
A scarce pamphlet – approximately 750 copies were printed. Signed “M. C. Sutphen” on front wrap.
Usual toning; light sunning; minor chipping of extremities; else very good.
