Jeremiah Evarts, writing under the Pseudonym “William Penn” produced the protest pamphlet in 1830.
Evarts was among the most outspoken critics of the forced removal policies of Presidents John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. This publication was issued the same year as Jackson’s removal of the Cherokee under the Indian Removal Act.
