Jose Manoel da Conceicao created one of the many remarkable foreign language tributes to Lincoln with As Exequias de Abrahao Lincoln, Presidente dos Estados-Unidos da America com um Esboco Biographico do Mesmo Oferecido ao Povo Brasileiro por Seu Patricio… Published in 1865 by the Laemmert Brothers, an important international publisher of 19th Century Rio de Janeiro.

The pamphlet, written in Portugese for the Brazilian trade, is an account of Lincoln’s assassination and funeral, beginning with his forebodings when he left Springfield. Concludes with a brief biography.

Light soiling and usual toning; minimal chipping of extremities; very uncommon in very good condition.

We have two of these. This one has white and coated paper stock. It is the first time we have encountered this one. The other is blue, that one is seldom seen.
